NCAFPM Berry Williams Scholarship 2021
The North Carolina Association of Floodplain Managers (NCAFPM) is pleased to announce its academic scholarship program for 2021.  The scholarship is named in honor of Berry Williams for his years of service as the State of North Carolina NFIP coordinator and assisting with the establishment and growth of NCAFPM from the association’s beginning in 1989.  Two (2) $1,250 scholarships will be awarded to the most deserving applicants based on the materials submitted with the application package. This is a one-time award for the selected applicants. Interested college students should review the eligibility requirements and submittals requested on the application materials (scholarship application and reference form) that can be downloaded from below.

  • Be a current undergraduate student in a two- or four-year degree program at a college or university within the State of North Carolina, and within a program related to the disciplines of floodplain management (hydrology and storm water, engineering, planning and zoning, coastal management, hazard mitigation, emergency management, geography/GIS, surveying and UAS technology, etc.)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale

NCAFPM strongly encourages application submissions by students enrolled at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) or Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) with a baccalaureate degree program, as well as by students enrolled at a technical community college with an associate degree program.
The scholarship application and reference form can be downloaded from below.  Submit all application materials electronically to the email address ncafpm-scholarships@ncafpm.org.  All application documents must be submitted and received electronically by January 31, 2021.
