We are excited to announce the 2026 Fall Floodplain Institute will be held in Asheville at the Crown Plaza resort. October 14-16, 2026.

Conference Registration will open around August 1st.

Call for Presentation Abstracts​​​​​​​

The North Carolina Association of Floodplain Managers (NCAFPM) will host our 20th annual Fall Floodplain Institute

October 14-16, 2026, at the Crown Plaza in Asheville North Carolina

This Call for Abstracts seeks a broad range of local, state, and federal officials, community partners, and industry professionals to address the many issues and opportunities associated with reducing flood damages; making communities more resilient; and managing floodplains, fragile coastal resources, and urban environments.​​​​​​​

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION:

Traditional Educational Session

These session blocks will be 30-minutes total including an introduction, 20-minute presentation, and Q&A time.

​​​​​​​If you are interested in presenting a topic, please click the button below to access the Abstract submittal form.

Abstracts should be submitted prior to August 1, 2026. Presenters will be notified of acceptance by September 1, 2026. Presenters should be prepared to speak for their entire allotted time.​​​​​​​

Presentations should be emailed to ncafpm_it@ncafpm.org or delivered to our registration desk AV person on a flash drive the morning prior to your session.

Please note that all presenters and conference attendees must register for the conference. If you do not plan to attend any conference sessions or events, please contact Susan Frady for a "Presenting Only" code.

2026 Hotel Information

Our 20th Annual Fall Floodplain
Institute will be held at the Crown Plaza Resort in Asheville, NC

Block room rate 
$162 standard room*
The cutoff date for this rate is
Monday, September 21st, 2026. at midnight.

Guaranteed rooms with king beds and/or ground floor direct outdoor pool access are available at $182.00 per night based on availability.

The above rates are subject to all imposed taxes which are currently 13% per room/per night (7% State Tax, 6% Occupancy Tax). Taxes are subject to change without notice.

Check in time is 3pm. Check out time is 11am. For special consideration on VIP rooms and/or luggage storage, please contact your Crowne Meetings Director/Crowne Meetings Manager in advance.

Hotel has a 48 hour cancellation policy. Individual reservations cancelled less than 48 hours prior to arrival will be charged one night room and tax.

Hotel requires 24 hour notice for early departure.
Individuals checking out early without 24 hour notice will be charged a $50.00 early departure fee.

Hotel is a smoke free facility. Smoking in sleeping rooms or meeting spaces will result in a $250.00 fine per incident.
